Spuk von draußen

Family series, 7 ep
Year: 1987-1988
Year in film: 1980s
Country: East Germany
Who in bedroom: girls ~8 bunk bed, same +boy
Kind of beds: bunk bed, one
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: 2 sisters usually in a wooden bunk bed. But also later together with a boy (brother) in his bed (I think located in the same room).

Looks like the bunk bed in the 1982 series Spuk im Hochhaus (2 brothers, rating 4). Usually, I like bunk beds, but I don’t like the young girls and prefer US movies.

Also on my bib overalls blog (girls, rating 4).

I don’t know the complete series, yet.

Rating 3-4 for now only. Still quite interesting. I have few entries about sisters and brother+sisters.

Blinker (1999)

Family film
Year: 1999
Year in film: 1990s
Country: Belgium
Who in bedroom: Blinker ~13 ?
Kind of beds: single
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 4/10
Rating: ****
Comment: I’m not sure about the actor. The main character (Joren Seldeslachts) is blonde, so maybe one of his friends in this dark blue bedroom. Medium brown wooden bed and furniture. I think no siblings.

I don’t like this actors nor movie. One brief skinny dipping scene at the beginning. Bedroom and plot are quite interesting, though.

Also on my bib overalls blog (teen girl, rating 4 as well).

There are 1 or 2 sequels but they are even worse.

For the bedroom rating 4. Movie itself even less.

Update 2: Woof! (1989)

Family series, boy turns into dog. 9 seasons
Year: 1989-1997
Year in film: 1990s
Country: UK
Who in bedroom: Eric ~11, friend ?
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: no
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 7/10 ?
Rating: *******
Comment: I already have 2 pics, but from season 1 (1989). The new pics are from s8e8 featuring different actors. The main character is darkhaired Adam Roper as Rex (pictured on left) instead of Edward Fidoe as Eric and his older, blonde friend Monty Allan as Michael Tully (maybe the boy with the black suit and helmet ?). The other blonde, boy pictured is obviously someone else. There are now at least 2 beds, one looks like a guest bed. But the table looks similar. Maybe more locations shown?

Great series. Handsome actors. Unfortunatley still not on DVD.

Still rating 7.

Ferocious Pal

PD Western with dog Kazan
Year: 1934
Year in film: 1930s ? 1870s ?
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Johnny ~16 ?
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes,DVDr

Rating: 3/10 ?
Rating: ***
Comment: OK. Also a classic here. One teen boy, I think Gene Toler probably in this bedroom. No siblings?

Not sure about the time setting. Should be a Western. But looks more like the 1930s.

Rating 3-4 only.

Aka His Ferocious Pal. Available on archive.org.

Update: Islands in the Stream (1977)

There’s also another location, with probably 3 beds for the three brothers, a bit later, in the middle of the movie. The 3rd bed of the older brother (also aligned horizontally as well) is on the opposite, right wall. 2 desks next each other at the north east, left to the door. Especially near the end of the movie, there are also some scenes on the boat and the bunks there, I think a 2 story bunk bed.

First I thought that the scene pictured would be a dorm and with 4 or 6 beds as the room looks quite large.

The other scene with the pillow fight earlier is much better, though. Now also on my shiny shorts blog (rating 4).

Main entry, still rating 7 at

Sitcom, 222 ep in 9 seasons
Year: 1988-1997
Year in film: 1980s, 90s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: boy D.J. ~7
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Michael Fishman in this bedroom in s2e6. He has 2 older sister, who probably have rooms for their own. (Sorry, I haven’t found them).

Good series. Also the boy and the girls in bibs overalls (other blog, rating 6).

I have to recheck this series, especially the later seasons.

For now, rating 4 only. I think few bedroom scenes like in most sitcoms.

Bernard’s Watch

Family series, 79 ep
Year: 1997-2004
Year in film: 2000s
Country: UK
Who in bedroom: Bernard ~10
Kind of beds: single beds
Available on DVD: VHS only (s1-2)
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Pic 1 from s4e11 (2000) with David Peachey in this attic bedroom. Pic 2 from the 2004 series s7e9 Ryan Watson playing Bernard in this messy bedroom. I think no siblings. Cousin Lucy stayed by him in season 4 (probably in a separate room). I have to recheck the earlier episodes as well.

Also on my shiny shorts blog, rating 6 and my pigtails blog, rating 4. And soon on my bib overalls blog, rating 6 (girls).

Interesting series by David Cobham (seasons 1-5) “Woof! (1989)” rating 7, “Out of Sight (1996)” rating 5. Unfortunately all series are not on DVD.

Rating 4-5 for now.

Islands in the Stream (1977)

Drama. Story Ernest Hemingway
Year: 1977
Year in film: 1930s, 1940
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Tom ~20, David 14, Andrew 11
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 7/10 ?
Rating: *******
Comment: There are 3 brothers, Tom (Hart Bochner, shirtless), David (14 or 15 yo Michael-James Wixted) and Andrew (Brad Savage, “Salem’s Lot”, “The Apple Dumpling Gang”), the younger boys in pajamas. They are sharing this room / cabin, (maybe on a ship but I don’t think so), more likely at a primitive beach house. Sorry, I don’t remember.

Nice pillow fight. Set in 1940 and/ or a bit earlier. Also at least David and Tom shirtless in swim shorts, including sitting and underwater scenes. (Shiny shorts blog, rating 4)

1970 novel by Hemingway. Oscar nominated.

Interesting scenes but movie needs to be fully rechecked.

Rating 7-8 for now.

Update: Also on a boat and another location. The final part is unfortunatly missing on YouTube. But I doubt even better scenes there.

Metal Mickey

Family series. 39 ep
Year: 1980-1983
Year in film: 1980s
Country: UK
Who in bedroom: Ken, Janey, Haley, Steve ?
Kind of beds: bunk beds
Available on DVD: s1+2
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: There are at least 2 simple, wooden bunk beds in this large bedroom, but (according to Wikipedia) the family consists of just 3 older teen kids, I think Ken (Ashley Knight ~20 yo, oldest kid), Janey (black teen girl Lola Young) and Haley (Lucinda Bateson). Maybe one bed is empty? Or the 4th bed is owned by Steve (20 yo Gary Shail ?)

Haley also in tight, light blue bib overalls, other blog rating 5.

Unusual large and quite interesting bedroom. Older teen kids and bother and sister sharing one room. Could be worse.

For bedroom, rating 4-5. Partly available on DVD.

Heimweh… dort wo die Blumen blüh’n

Heimatfilm, Rudolf Prack
Year: 1957
Year in film: 1950s
Country: Austria
Who in bedroom: boys ~9-11 ?
Kind of beds: separate, dorm
Available on DVD: VHS only
I own: no
Rating: 3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: Several choir boys in a large dorm with typical simple 1950s metal beds.

I think, according to the plot this should be the Vienna Boys Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben), but credited as Mozart Sängerknaben. Probably only dubbed.

Few good scenes and not even Lederhosen (nor sailor suits).

Also on my bib overalls blog (woman, rating 2).

Quite poor movie and not on DVD either.

For the “bedroom” rating 3-4 only.
