Die nervigsten Dinge der 90er

Comedy show. Host Ingolf Lück
Year: 2004
Year in film: 1990s
Country: Germany
Who in bedroom: girls
Kind of beds: single beds
Available on DVD: no ?
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: 6 young girls pictured sitting on 3 beds (probably 3 sisters), and a boy sitting on the floor. So there must be at least one other bedroom or is this a sleepover party? I think just this brief scene in this show.

Subtitle of the show “Der Comedy-Rückblick von A-Z”. Co-host Kader Loth and other comedians presented the most annoying thing of the 90s. This scene is about the Game Boy.

The scene looks like a real room (not a studio) which is very small and might be from a different reality soap or documentary, maybe about a large family?

Interesting bedroom, unfortunately I don’t remember if bedrooms of boys are shown as well.

Rating 3 for this girls bedroom.

The Willies

Horror film starring Sean Astin

Comment: Michael Bower in this white / pink attic bedroom. I think no siblings.

One of my favourite movies (but not this fly story). Good  80s scenes like bullying at school also starring Jeremy Miller (“Growing Pains”) and others.

Some short and longer horror episodes narrated by Sean Astin (campfire stories). I like the 80s and horror.

Rating 2-3 for this messy bedroom, rating ~9 for the movie. I own the German DVD called “Fantasy Collection” which also includes Roger Corman’s Wizards of the Lost Kingdom I+II (starring Vidal Peterson).

Comment: At least 14 boys and teen boys  including the gang of 10 boys and teen boys (around 14 yo) with Spin and Marty at a summer camp on the Triple-R ranch, then a fictional ranch in California.

Unfortunately I don’t know this series and I think I have to buy this DVD as I like ranch movies and series.

I don’t know exactly how many orphans are sleeping here but there is more than one bunkhouse (at least in a later season/sequel) and at least 4 bunk beds in one of them (2 horizontal, then 1 vertical and another one horizontal). There’s a pic at cinchset.com. I can’t acces this site directly but works via Google translate a Google image search.

Pic showing 14 yo Tom Considine as Spin in a screen test. I haven’t found any other clip with a better dorm view.

Rating 7-8 for now. The series is probably even better. Would be better if in color and if there are boys wearing overalls. There is also a 1955 and a 2000 movie (starring David Gallagher) which I also have to check but I’m sure the original vintage series is much better.

Update:  One and a half year later I finally have bought this DVD set after I made an entry on my new western clothes blog. By now I only have seen one of the 2 DVDs. There are 10 boys sleeping in one bunkhouse in 5 wooden bunk beds. Few good scenes to show all beds at once.  The new pic is from ep. 12. Two beds are aligned vertically, the rest horizontally. The counselor sleeps next door. There are 14 boys shown in episode 15 but am not sure if all sleeps in on room. I think they have more than 1 bunk room but I will watch closely (still watching).  There’s also a girl in a sequel who probably sleeps elsewhere.

Very good scenes also in the dorm. Shirtless and pajama scenes, pranks like putting a frog under the sheets, kicking from lower to the upper bunk etc. Probably one of the best ranch series. Previously rated 7 now 8.

Very good image quality for that time and some extras.

For more infos see my western blog (will be updated there soon and here as well if necessary).

The Royal Tenenbaums

Comedy film starring Gene Hackman
Year: 2001
Year in film: 2000
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: boys ~9, Margot ~11
Kind of beds: single beds, bunk bed
Available on DVD: yes

Rating: *****
Comment: There are 3 grown-up siblings. 2 brothers and an adopted sister (pic showing ~11 yo Irene Gorovaia as younger Margot, later played by 28 yo Gwyneth Paltrow, 3rd floor). Her brother Chas (Ben Stiller) sleeps on the 2nd floor. He has 2 sons (Ari, Uzi). Although the 80s clothing most of the movie is set in the 2000s. There are also scenes of the other grown-ups as kids.

I’m not sure about the other rooms. I have seen this movie but don’t remember it. And only found some short clips and pics.

There’s a bunk bed in the work center on the 2nd floor (white painted) but not sure if the boys sleeping in there. There’s a yellow tent in a room on the 4th floor where Chas’ brother Richie sleeps. There’s also a room with a hammock.

Very interesting house interior but somehow I don’t like this movie. So I think I only kept some very few scenes of it somewhere on a VHS or DVDr.

For bedroom scenes rating 4 for now.

Update: I have now seen the complete 1st hour (I didn’t have more space on my recorder). Pic 2 showing the room of young Richie (played by Amedeo Turturro). Pic 3 obviously showing either Ari or Uzi. The other brother sleeps in a separate room (similar looking). Pic 4 showing the mentioned bunk bed in the work center. Ben Stiller on the floor and one of his sons climbed down the bunk bed lying next to him. I can’t say who is who from the distance (same haircut). I wonder why they have the buk bed and the other beds.

Still interesting. Now rating 5-6 instead of 4.

Just Ask My Children

TV drama

Who in bedroom: Brian 10,
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes

Rating: 6/10

Comment: 2 brothers in different years shown (1982-1996), different locations, at home in one room, separate wooden beds and at an institution with many bunk beds. Also scenes at jail (2 bunk beds).

I think there are 10 yo Ryan Wilson shown (as 6 yoBrian) and 15 yo (as 9 yo Cody Dorkin) at the beginning. Later Dan Byrd and Scott Bailey and at the end as older teens/grown-ups, but I think no bedroom scenes at the end.

Interesting plot about innocent parents put in jail. But there are some other, similar movies. Typical courtroom drama. But many bunk beds.

I didn’t had the time to watch the complete movie at slow speed, so I’ve just checked some parts of it. I haven’t noticed scenes at night in that dorm, so I don’t know who sleeps in the top or bottom bunk.

Rating 6-7.

Rupert Patterson Wants to be a Super Hero

Comment: Sean Campbell in this bedroom. On the left side is a computer workspace and or laboratory of this young super hero and inventor.

I don’t remember this complete movie. There’s a girl, not sure if she’s his sister. But if so, she had a room for her own.

Good movie and handsome actor. Also on my overalls blog (rating 7, Rupert in bibs and girls in shortalls and overalls.) Also shirtless and swimming scenes, cycling scenes and other scenes of interest.

Rating 4 for bedroom, 6-7 for the movie.

Eton College documentary (1967)

Comment: Several students in a dorm with separated little rooms. No ceilings so rather on big dorm.

I found this on YouTube, the complete title might be “Eton: a BBC documentary by Anthony de Lotbinière (BBC, 1967)” Looks more like a catholic boarding school and with the curtains it reminds me of Het verdriet van Belgie.

But nowadays it’s looking different and modern there. I have to check other Eton documentaries but actual pics showing ordinary 2 students bedrooms.

Interesting historical bedrooms. But I think few good scenes shown.

Rating 4-5.

Comment: Brock Pierce ~15 as 13 yo son of the US president in this luxurious bedroom.

Quite interesting but no siblings. Large bed and a computer and a video game monitor in this room. Also starring Sinbad and Zachary Ty Bryan (“Home Improvement”).

Had been aired again some week ago. Entertaining family film but not the best Disney movie. Handsome kid actors. But nothing more of interest. Reminds me of Richie Rich.

Bedroom and movie rating 4.

Das weiße Band – Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte

Who in bedroom: Martin 14, Adolf 9, Gustav 8. Girls

Rating: *****
Comment: Leonard Proxauf (Martin, tied to the bed due to bad habits) sharing a room with his 2 younger brothers played by Levin Henning and Thibault Sérié, one brother had to tie and untie him. Pic 2 showing their sisters, at least 3 girls, probably sharing one other room, but I don’t remember having seeing that one.

Interesting movie and very interesting scenes. Martin has to wear a white ribbon to remind him not to do anything sinful. International title “The White Ribbon”. Probably most know this famous movie.

Also on my sailor suit blog, rating 3 due to very few sailor suit scenes of young boys. I have to check this long movie again later for better bedroom scenes. Sadly it’s b&w. Maybe there are some photos or behind-the-scenes clips in color.

Bedroom scenes and movie rating 4-5. Plot rating 8.

Lost Heaven

altarboys  altarboys3

Drama starring Kieran Culkin
Year: 2002
Year in film: 1970s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Francis ~16. Margie ~17
Kind of beds: bunk bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, DVD
Rating: 3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: Emile Hirsch (Francis, room pics 1 and 3, also visiting Margie, played by Jena Malone in pic 2). Hirsch has a younger brothers and 2 sisters in this movie, but I haven’t seen their rooms.

Aka “The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys”. That aka title suggests a boarding school but I think it’s just a catholic school without bedrooms.

Quite interesting 70s bedroom, especially the room of the teen girl. Some few interesting other scenes; Kieran Culkin is still quite interesting. But I don’t like Hirsch and don’t like this movie. It also includes lots of animated scenes and also starred Jodie Foster.

Jena Malone wearing good overalls, but very few scenes either (rating 5 on my overalls blog).

Rating 3-4 for bedrooms.
