Two Weeks with Love

Musical comedy film  starring Jane Powell
Year: 1950
Year in film: 1900s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Ricky ~8, McCormick 13, man
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, TV recording
Rating: 5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Gary Gray (McCormick, on left), Tommy Rettig and a man in the same 19th century steel bed. Both wearing female nightshirts. Both arms slapping in the face of the man. Also both shown in bib overalls (see my other blog, rating 4), bathing costumes, festive grey suits (longer collar flap, Rettig only) and other costumes. Soon also on my sailor suit blog.

There is also a scene where the are both in overalls on a bed (probably that of their parents). Also girls / and or women in one bed, similar scene.

Typical MGM musical film.

For more infos see my other blog.

Rating 4-5 for these bedroom scenes. Rather few bedroom scenes and few (good) scenes of the boys. Best maybe the bathing costumes.

The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet

Sitcom starring Ricky Nelson
Year: 1952-1966
Year in film: 1950s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Ricky 12, David 16 (s1)
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 7/10 ?
Rating: *******
Comment: Ricky Nelson (1940-1985, right bed) and his older brother David Nelson (1936-2011) as themselves sharing this bedroom.

I found this series by coincidence and haven’t seen it before. I heard of it before but couldn’t find any bedroom scenes. PD series and available on and YouTube. There are some episodes in color (late 60s) but I haven’t found bedroom scenes there. They are much older then anyway.

Pic 1 is from episode s1e20 Valentine Show (1953). Pic 2 showing ep. s3e14 Individuality (1955) were the bedroom is part of the plot. Ricky (on left) is allowed to decorate his part of the room. Note the Mine and His signs.

There are obviously very few bedroom scenes shown in this series and I have to check more episodes. There are also other, younger kid actors shown in this series, at least a boy. And also the bedroom of their parents.

Rating 7-8 for now.

Freaky Friday (1976)

Disney film starring Jody Foster
Year: 1976
Year in film: 1970s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Ben 8. Annabel ~14
Kind of beds: single bed, room
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 5/10 ?
Rating: *****
Comment: I’m not sure but I think this is the room of 8 yo Sparky Marcus (pictured), the 6 yo brother Ben of Annabel (Jody Foster). She sleeps in a different messy room, blue walls and a big window.

I also found this at a Disney blog and have to check this and the other Freaky Friday movies. (The 1995 version coming soon, also showing  Shelley Long in light blue bib overalls or shortalls).

I don’t like much the 70s and the typical brown flared pants, but interesting bedroom and actors/actresses. Good plot. Novel by Mary Rodgers.

Rating 5 for now.

When the Wind Blows (1930)

Our Gang / Little Rascals short film
Year: 1930
Year in film: ~1930
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: boy ~8 ?
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 3 ?
Rating: ***
Comment: At least one young boy in this bedroom.

I found it by coincidence on YouTube, probably a recommendation of my previous entry with a similar title.

I haven’t checked the complete movie (20 minutes). I also have to check more of the Little Rascals. I don’t remember bedroom scenes there.

Typical bedroom of early b&w and silent films. See my other entries.

Obviously no siblings in this room. Nothing special. Maybe the other and colorized movies are better. Starring Jackie Cooper.

So rating 3 for now.

Update: Some good scenes (2 and 3 boys in 1 bed) in “Canned Fishing” and “Shrimps For a Day” including an orphanage. Rating 6.

Whistle Down the Wind

Drama starring Hayley Mills
Year: 1961
Year in film: 1959
Country: UK
Who in bedroom: Kathie, Nan ~11. Charles ~7
Kind of beds: girls in  1 bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 2/10 ?
Rating: **
Comment: Hayley Mills (Kathie) and her film sister played by Diane Holgate sharing one bed. Brief scene at 18 minutes. There’s also a younger brother (Alan Barnes) but I don’t know where he sleeps. I think not in the same room.

Novel by Mary Hayley Bell. Farm content.

I don’t know the complete movie and have to check it again the next broadcasting. Completely on YouTube but I only checked it at high speed.

There are musicals and/or stage plays with a boy and man and some with a girl in bib overalls but I don’t know of any scenes in this movie.

Only one single and young brother. I prefer US movies anyway. Maybe famous and good novel but I don’t like this movie.

So rating 2-3 for now only.
