Whatever Turns You On (1979)

Kids comedy series, YCDTOTV spin-off, 15 ep
Year: 1979

Country: Canada
Who in bedroom: boys ~9-11
Kind of beds: bunk bed
Available on DVD: yes *

Rating: 8 /10

Comment: At least one bunk bed in the studio as a summer camp cabin. I haven’t seen any other angle of this room. There might be a singkle bed, a 2nd bunk bed or the 3rd boy is a guest from another cabin. Other scenes just showing 2 boys. So maybe just one bunk bed in a cabin. Not sure about the names of the actors. On the right maybe 9 yo Rodney Helal. And nice shiny shorts!

Also 2 of the boys in shiny shorts sitting on the top bunk.

Pic showing ep. “Fan Letters & Summer Camps”. Also on my overalls blog (f/m) rating 6 like YCDTOTV.

There are similar scenes in the “You Can’t Do That on Television” series (mainly the 80s) and showing other actors. Also other scenes with 2 (different) brothers in room with 2 beds (rating 10) and one large Waltons-bed.

That also on my sailor suit blog (several handsome boys and girls, rating 8) and on my western blog.

I don’t like the 70s and the fashion and haircut, but 1979 is almost 1980. Although this is a studio, rating 8. Available on DVD but not in perfect image quality. For more see my other blog.

I currently don’t upload more pics to the YCDTOTV entry.

2 young boys and 2 young girls each sharing one metal bed. There’s also an even younger toddler girl. Either there’s a third bed which I haven’t seen or she sleeps with her parents.

Short silent film. 9 minutes. PD available on archive.org. Aka Hanging Stockings on a Christmas Eve.

At the beginning the kids are shown in the living room, the boys wearing white sailor collars. But mainly in the background and the image quality is quite poor.

First movie about this 1823 poem. But maybe set in the presence (1900s). Some sources say movie releases in 1908. IMDb says 1905 (but also says animation movie).

At least another movie with kids (including girls) sharing beds and even 5 in a room. Quite funny also a pillow fight, but the kids are much too young. Interesting historic bedroom and beds though.

Rating 2.

River Phoenix (pic 1 and pic 2 on the right as Brian) in this 80s bedroom also with his brother in real life Joaquin (aka Leif as brother Robby) in episode Backwards: The Riddle of Dyslexia (s12e6). But I think they don’t share this room (I haven’t noticed a 2nd bed).

I found this on YouTube by searching for some other episodes for my overalls blog. Many episodes had been deleted and so it needs checking from time to time. Some few episodes are released on some DVD sets but I think this one only on VHS (OOP).

This is a great series and there are also similar series (CBS Library, CBS Schoolbreak Special) and others, also see my overalls blog.

I hope to have some time in the future to check more episodes. Maybe there are even better ones including more siblings or even bunk beds.

For this episode rating 6. Rating 7 for the bunk bed in The Pinballs.

Nice bedroom and he was a great actor.

Probably this is the last post for this year, so I wish Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Several boys (at least shirtless) in metal bunk beds in this dorm. At least 8 bunk beds in this room, so 16 boys.

This is a documentary about the Russian Naval school named after Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov including footage of the 1976 movie (rating 6) and the 1946-1949 series (Nahimovcy).

In total there are at least 120 boys, around 12-18 yo (shown at once).

Dormitories are nothing unusual. But dorms with many bunk beds are quite rare.

Interesting but very few good scenes.

For more infos see my sailor suit blog (rating 6).

9 or 10 yo Luca Venantini in pajamas in this large Italian bedroom. Unfortunately no siblings.

Quite interesting and famous zombie movie. Banned in uncut and even some cut versions (I don’t own those). English title: City of the Living Dead.

Also the boy in tight 80s jeans including close-up scenes. I almost thought that this is an US movie but high ceiling and window.

The movie by Lucio Fulci is obviously a masterpiece (especially for it’s time). Rating 4-5 for the few bedroom scenes and rating 6 for the movie (cut version, almost no blood in here).

Comment:
This is obviously the bedroom of Monika (Kirsten Stage about 13 yo or younger). She has 2 brothers: handsome Michael 14 yo (Torsten Sense, also shown shirtless) and Axel about 8 yo (blond Oliver Korittke, also shirtless but very small). All in tight jeans but I think flared legs.

I only have one episode (from a compilation DVD), now the series (13 episodes are available on DVD). I haven’t found any clips yet and very few pics and don’t know if the brothers sharing one room (what is plausible). But the house seems quite big enough for separate rooms of the kids. After their film dad died they move to the Netherlands with another boy and rooms. Maybe some or all sharing rooms there.

I considered buying the DVD set as Michael is handsome but I think I wait if it’s on TV or online. I also don’t like the 70s (although it looks more like the 80s)

Although I prefer US movies and series I also want to post some other retro stuff from Germany as there are few pics on the web. Unfortunately nothing much to see here. In the late 70s I liked bold and cool Oliver Korittke but not anymore (neither young nor old).

Rating 4-5 for now, but completely unsure.
