What Love Sees

TV drama movie about blind parents and blind child
Year: 1996
Year in film: (1941-) 1959
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: boys 9,12,13. Girl 15
Kind of beds: bunk bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6/10 ?
Rating: ******
Comment: I think there are three brothers including 9 yo Coutland Mead as blind Hap and 2 older boys (12 yo Cody McMains as Billy and 13 yo Trevor O’Brien, brother of Austin as Gordy) and one 15 yo sister (Ashlee Lauren as Faith). Sorry, I’ve read that too late, so I don’t know exactly who is in this room. Nice wooden old bunk bed.

I assume that the 3 brothers sharing a room, so there must be a separate bed. Or another bunk bed or room. Ranch setting, I think mainly in the (late) 1950s (as pictured). Starring Richard Thomas as dad. 1988 novel by Susan Vreeland.

Also on my overalls blog (Mead, rating 4).

Rating 6 for now for this bedroom. Needs to be rechecked. Idon’t like Mead here. The older boys are probably more of interest.

Angel City (1980)

TV drama starring Ralph Waite
Year: 1980
Year in film: ~1980
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: teen boys, men
Kind of beds: bunk bed +separate bed
Available on DVD: VHS only
I own: no
Rating: 3/10 ?
Rating: ***
Comment: At least some young men and probably also (teen) boys in bunk beds and separate beds. Or are the younger actors just relatives who came for a visit? Some men in bib overalls. First I thought of a much earlier setting. It’s a migrant labour camp, rural setting. Not sure if more than one bunk bed in each room.

I found this by coincidence and as usual only have checked it partly. Obviously mainly men.

Rating 3-4 for now only.

Secret Valley (1980)

Kids adventure series, 26 ep
Year: 1980
Year in film: ~1980
Country: Australia
Who in bedroom: boys ~11. Girls
Kind of beds: separate bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6/10 ?
Rating: ******
Comment: Pic 1 showing 2 boys in ep 26 (not sure if brothers), pic 2 is from ep 21, probably a different room and actor. Many kids acting. Some are siblings (in the series and in real life).

Another great Australian series by Roger Mirams. I only have checked it briefly.

It’s a kid’s holiday camp in a ghost city (gold mine, Western town setting). Maybe I missed even better scenes?

Also on my pigtails blog rating 6 and my overalls blog (girl) rating 3.

There was a sequel series called Professor Poopsnagle’s Steam Zeppelin” with the same kids. Nice blue coveralls in there.

Rating 6 for now. Needs to be rechecked completetly.

The Adventures of Skippy

Family series, kangaroo, remake
Year: 1992-1993
Year in film: 1990s
Country: Australia
Who in bedroom: Jerry, Lou 10
Kind of beds: bunk bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6 /10
Rating: ******
Comment: 10 yo brother Jerry (Simon James, red shirt, upper bunk) and his film twin sister Louise (Kate McNeil) sharing this room and dark wooden bunk bed. Pic from s1e22. Also he shown in bed in s1e14.

A room of a Japanese girl is shown in s1e12. Also some more locations, like a tent (boy with a dark bowlcut and round glasses in s1e25).

Good series and handsome kids, but I prefer the 60s Classic (rating 6, 2 brothers).

Also on my shiny shorts blog, rating 9.

Escape from Wildcat Canyon

Adventure film
Year: 1998
Year in film: 1990s ?
Country: Canada, USA
Who in bedroom: Pete ~12
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Canadian Michael Caloz at least in pic 1 in a modern, colorful bedroom. Scene at 22 minutes. Not sure about pic 2,  according to my notes of my VHS this must also be from this movie but I haven’t found it online. A boy at least shirtless in this loft of a cabin.  Reminds me of much earlier settings like LHOTP. Who can help here?

I also have him in Whisker (1997) rating 6.

Rating 4-5 for pic 1 and 3-4 for the “bedroom” of pic 2. Obviously no siblings. Movie is quite poor.

The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea

Coming-of-age film. Kris Kristofferson
Year: 1976
Year in film: 1960s ?
Country: UK
Who in bedroom: Jonathan 13
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, TV recording
Rating: 5/10 *
Rating: *****
Comment: Jonathan Kahn in this interesting attic bedroom. No siblings. Wooden bed.

Very interesting movie with some strange scenes. I still have it completely on one of my last VHS. 1963 novel by Yukio Mishima. Nominated for 2 Golden Globes.

I don’t like to 70s nor the 60s. And no siblings.

So for the bedroom, rating 5-6 only. Plot/movie rating8-9.

Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension

Mystery series (sequel)
Year: 1998
Year in film: 1990s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Mitchell ~13
Kind of beds: single bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 5 /10
Rating: *****
Comment: Bill Switzer in this bedroom. He has a younger sister in the series, around 9 yo, but I think she has a room for her own.

I have briefly checked this series and the 1991 series starring Omri Katz, mainly for shiny shorts scenes. I haven’t found any, just boxer shorts. (Rating 10 in Dallas).

Rating 4-5 for now.

The original series is much better and Omri even more handsome (rating 10, bedrooms there rating 6.)

For Bill Switzer in bib overalls in The Dinosaur Hunter (rating 10) check out my other blog.

Extra Zigda

Sitcom, 15 ep
Year: 1998
Year in film: ~1998
Country: France
Who in bedroom: Karine ~8, Jonathan ~10
Kind of beds: bunk bed
Available on DVD: no
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: First I thought, that 2 sisters would share this room and bunk bed, but the older girl is the alien lady Zigda. Karine (Clémence La Fleurière), maybe around 8 or 9 yo sleeps on the lower bunk and her brother Jonathan (Morgan Vasner) on the upper bunk. Pic from ep 11. Both together showing in a different episode. The wall paper and props look more like for babies.

(Older) brothers and sisters sharing a bunk bed is quite rare.

But there are better rooms, scenes and kids in other series and movies.

Rating 4-5.

Also on my bib overalls blog (boy, rating 5).

Die rote Zora und ihre Bande

Adventure mini series, 13 ep
Year: 1979
Year in film: 1930s
Country: YU, D, CH
Who in bedroom: Branko 12, other
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 9/10
Rating: *********
Comment: 2 orphaned boys sharing one bed. I think it’s 12 yo Branko (Nedelijko Vukasovic) in the bed on the right. 1930s setting. Is this in the castle? Looks more like cave. Pic from ep. 11. I haven’t noticed other bedrooms.

Very interesting series, but mainly for Branco (also shirtless in black shorts, shiny shorts blog rating 6). And also on my sailor suit blog (historical clothes, rating 5).

I only have checked this series at high speed.

Rating 9 for now. The 2008 remake is very poor (but needs rechecking for bedrooms). I only remember the prison scene at the beginning.

For more infos and pics see my other blogs.
