Year in film: ~1930s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Georgie ~7, John ~8, Anabel ~8 ?
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: not yet

Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: 2 brothers and one sister sharing this room (Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson and Pixie Davis). Set in the 1930s as this is a sequel to the 1964 classic (which is set in the 1910s, no entry yet). Nice pajamas and short, white union suits.

New in cinemas. Also on my sailor suit blog, rating 5 for now.

I often prefer the classics. But probably a nice, but typical modern family film.

Kids are quite young. At least another brother/sister entry.

Rating ~4 for now.

Happy Christmas to all may readers!

Dangerous Holiday

Classic drama starring Ra Hould
Year in film:
Who in bedroom: Ronnie ~ 13, man
Kind of beds:
bunk bed
Available on DVD:
I own:
Ronald Sinclair (then called Ra Hould, born in NZ), 1924-1992 sitting on top of a bunk bed in a cabin, visiting this man.

Nice sailor suit scenes (other blog rating 7) and other scenes of interest (swimming in underwear). I even bought the DVD.

Few bedroom scenes, no siblings. Typical runaway plot movie of these days.

For bedroom rating ~3 only.

Rambling Rose

Year in film:
Who in bedroom: Buddy ~14 ?
Kind of beds:
single ?
Available on DVD:
I own:
4/10 ?
I think it’s Lukas Haas, in this 1930s bedroom with maybe just one steel bed. Also sharing this bed with a young lady, probably Laura Dern (not his film sister). I think no siblings.

I’ve checked this long time ago and don’t remember much of it. Nominated for 2 Oscars.

Interesting setting and plot (novel by Calder Willingham) but I don’t like much this actors.

Rating ~4 only.

Night ‘n’ Gales (Our Gang)

Our Gang / Little Rascals short film

Year in film: 1930
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: boys ~4-9, man
Kind of beds: same bed

Comment: Porky, Alfalfa, Spanky and Buckwheat and a man sharing one bed. Pic from the colorized version.

Quite funny and interesting, but there are better movies. 11 minutes only.

Rating 3-4. I recently added episodes on my other blogs, especially my overalls blog.

Main overview entry including dorm, rating up to 6

The Sullivans (1976)

Drama series. 1114 ep.
Year: 1976-1982
Year in film: 1939-40s
Country: Australia
Who in bedroom: Terry ~17 (s1)
Kind of beds: single ?
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recordings
Rating: 3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: Richard Morgan, I think alone is this bedroom. Pic from ep 136 (season 3), so around 19 or 20 yo. He has a sister, a bit younger and an older brother, but I think both with rooms for their own. Probably also other locations maybe bunk beds (of soldiers ?).

The series is currently being aired on Bibel.TV.

I don’t like this series set during WWII. But interesting bedroom and clothes like knickers.

Also on my bib overalls, pigtails and bedroom blogs.

Rating 3 for bedrooms only.

Kästner und der kleine Dienstag

TV drama/ biography Erich Kästner
Year in film:

Germany, Austria
Who in bedroom:
Hans ~12, Ruth ~12
Kind of beds:
separate beds

yes, TV recording
5/10 *
Nico Ramon Kleemann ~12 yo as 8 or 9 yo main character Hans (younger) and his film sister, Trude (real name Ruth), one year older (Charlotte Lorenzen ~12 yo) sharing this bedroom. There’s a carpet as curtain hanging between the beds as room divider.

Filmed 2015 in Vienna. Set in 1931. The 2nd half is set in ~1939 with different actors. Few good (bedroom) scenes there.

Also on my sailor suit and pigtails blog.

Very interesting movie and bedroom. Some handsome actors.

For the bedroom rating ~5-6. Movie rating ~6-7.

Update: Les allumettes suédoises

I have rechecked the complete series (rating 8).

Next to the great scene of Olivier and his Jewish friend David sharing one bed, there are also dorm scenes in ep 1 and ep 3 (ep 3 pictured). At least 12, probably some more beds in the dorm. Episode 1 has only or mainly dark scenes.

Also now on my bib overalls blog (rating 2, in fact an old man only but Olivier and a woman in blue aprons). Also soon on my pigtails blog.

German Wikipedia says 12 yo Olivier in 1932, French Wikipedia says 10 yo in 1930. Maybe in the novel only? Actor is 14 and/or 15.

Great series, main entry

Update: Islands in the Stream (1977)

There’s also another location, with probably 3 beds for the three brothers, a bit later, in the middle of the movie. The 3rd bed of the older brother (also aligned horizontally as well) is on the opposite, right wall. 2 desks next each other at the north east, left to the door. Especially near the end of the movie, there are also some scenes on the boat and the bunks there, I think a 2 story bunk bed.

First I thought that the scene pictured would be a dorm and with 4 or 6 beds as the room looks quite large.

The other scene with the pillow fight earlier is much better, though. Now also on my shiny shorts blog (rating 4).

Main entry, still rating 7 at

Islands in the Stream (1977)

Drama. Story Ernest Hemingway
Year: 1977
Year in film: 1930s, 1940
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Tom ~20, David 14, Andrew 11
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes

Rating: 7/10 ?
Rating: *******
Comment: There are 3 brothers, Tom (Hart Bochner, shirtless), David (14 or 15 yo Michael-James Wixted) and Andrew (Brad Savage, “Salem’s Lot”, “The Apple Dumpling Gang”), the younger boys in pajamas. They are sharing this room / cabin, (maybe on a ship but I don’t think so), more likely at a primitive beach house. Sorry, I don’t remember.

Nice pillow fight. Set in 1940 and/ or a bit earlier. Also at least David and Tom shirtless in swim shorts, including sitting and underwater scenes. (Shiny shorts blog, rating 4)

1970 novel by Hemingway. Oscar nominated.

Interesting scenes but movie needs to be fully rechecked.

Rating 7-8 for now.

Update: Also on a boat and another location. The final part is unfortunatly missing on YouTube. But I doubt even better scenes there.

Die rote Zora und ihre Bande

Adventure mini series, 13 ep
Year: 1979
Year in film: 1930s
Country: YU, D, CH
Who in bedroom: Branko 12, other
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 9/10
Rating: *********
Comment: 2 orphaned boys sharing one bed. I think it’s 12 yo Branko (Nedelijko Vukasovic) in the bed on the right. 1930s setting. Is this in the castle? Looks more like cave. Pic from ep. 11. I haven’t noticed other bedrooms.

Very interesting series, but mainly for Branco (also shirtless in black shorts, shiny shorts blog rating 6). And also on my sailor suit blog (historical clothes, rating 5).

I only have checked this series at high speed.

Rating 9 for now. The 2008 remake is very poor (but needs rechecking for bedrooms). I only remember the prison scene at the beginning.

For more infos and pics see my other blogs.
