Mystery in Dracula’s Castle

Disney-Land s19e11+12. Johnny Whitaker
Year: 1973
Year in film: 1970s ?
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Leonard ~11, Alfie ~13
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: no
I own: no
Rating: 5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: 13 yo Johnny Whitaker (“Tom Sawyer”, right bed) and 11 yo Scott C. Kolden (“Me as Chimp”) as brother Leonard sharing this bedrom. There’s also an older friend (Jean-Michel Michenaud) and a teen girl as baby sitter. Whitaker looks younger than 13.

Quite interesting, especially Scott, but I don’t like the 70s colors nor Johnny with his curly hair.

Probably a nice and funny detective movie and rather untypical Disney movie, but I only have checked it briefly.

Rating ~5 for now.

Amanda (1996)

Family horse movie
Year: 1996
Year in film: 1950s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Biddle, Kelsey ~13
Kind of beds: separate
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 8/10
Rating: ********
Comment: Kieran Culkin (Biddle, right bed) and film brother Erik von Detten, both 13 yo but Kieran is younger looking, sharing this 1950s wooden farm bedroom.

Very interesting ranch movie. I like Culkin, but not von Detten.

Also on my Western blog, rating 7 and soon on my pigtails blog.

For bedroom scenes rating 7-8 for now. Needs to be fully rechecked.

Josh and S.A.M.

Drama starring Noah Fleiss
Year: 1993
Year in film: 1990s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Josh ~13, Sam ~8
Kind of beds: separate ?
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 5/10 ?
Rating: *****
Comment: Brothers Josh and Sam, played by Canadian Jacob Tierney and Noah Fleiss, I think sharing this room (or maybe have separate rooms ?). Sorry, I don’t remember this movie and have to recheck it.

Looks like a typical, modern 90s bedroom. I think few scenes as this is a road movie.

Rating 4-5 for this bedroom for now only. Movie rating maybe even higher.

A Christmas Story (1983)

Famous family Christmas movie
Year: 1983
Year in film: 1940s
Country: USA, Canada
Who in bedroom: Randy 9, Ralphie ~12
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Ian Petrella (on left) and older brother played by 12 yo Peter Billingsley as 9 yo Ralphie sharing this 1940s bedroom. Unusual early setting for a Christmas movie.

I found this scene by coincidence but have to recheck this movie for daylight scenes.

Also on my bib overalls blog rating 3 (Randy) and my Western blog rating 4 (Ralphie).

For the bedroom rating 4-5 for now. Both boys are young and I don’t like Peter Billingsley. Interesting and funny movie though. Especially the tongue stuck at a frozen pole.

Swiss Family Robinson (1976)

Adventure series. Chris Wiggins
Year: 1976
Year in film: 1801 ?
Country: Canada
Who in bedroom: Ernest 22, Marie ~12 ?
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 3/10 ?
Rating: ***
Comment: I found this scene in episode 2. Not sure who’s sharing this bed, I think it must be Michael Duhig and 12 yo Heather Graham. I wonder why Ernest is that old (22) in this series. In the novel he’s 13.

Probably the others also sleep in the same room? Including blonde Franz (Ricky O’Neill) around 13 yo and the parents?

Also on my pigtails blog rating 8.

Not to be confused with the 1975-1976 US series with a 13 yo Eric Olson as Ernie.

Rating 3 for now for the “bedroom”. Needs to be rechecked.

Secret Valley (1980)

Kids adventure series, 26 ep
Year: 1980
Year in film: ~1980
Country: Australia
Who in bedroom: boys ~11. Girls
Kind of beds: separate bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6/10 ?
Rating: ******
Comment: Pic 1 showing 2 boys in ep 26 (not sure if brothers), pic 2 is from ep 21, probably a different room and actor. Many kids acting. Some are siblings (in the series and in real life).

Another great Australian series by Roger Mirams. I only have checked it briefly.

It’s a kid’s holiday camp in a ghost city (gold mine, Western town setting). Maybe I missed even better scenes?

Also on my pigtails blog rating 6 and my overalls blog (girl) rating 3.

There was a sequel series called Professor Poopsnagle’s Steam Zeppelin” with the same kids. Nice blue coveralls in there.

Rating 6 for now. Needs to be rechecked completetly.

Year: 1993
Year in film: 1920s
Country: Sweden, Denmark
Who in bedroom: Roland ~14, Bertil 15
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 8/10
Rating: ********
Comment: Jesper Salén (main character Roland, on the right) and his older brother sharing one bed in 1920s Stockholm.

Very interesting coming-of-age movie. I could I miss this? I have still most parts on a VHS. Maybe because I mainly remembered other scenes? Many good and even funny scenes. And the 3rd movie with a tongue at frozen steel.

Of course lots of historical clothes, but I only notice a woman in a sailor dress. Boxing scenes but I think not shiny shorts.

Handsome actors. Very good movie. English titles: The Slingshot, Innocent Life.

So rating 8-9.

Amazing Stories – s1e13

Mystery series, director Steven Spielberg
Year: 1985-1987
Year in film: 1986
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Lance, Dennis ~10, 11
Kind of beds: high sleeper + bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly
Rating: 5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Seth Green (Lance, the older brother) and Joshua Rudoy (“Harry and the Hendersons (1987)”) sharing this room. A rare high sleeper with large green (metal ?) posts and wooden side parts. Below the other bed, angled at 90 degrees (for Dennis ?).

I have some few episodes on DVD and TV recordings, but not this one. I have briefly checked some episodes (for shiny shorts) but haven’t found anything of interest. One of the boys here, I think Seth, wearing shorts, but not shiny.

Also on my overalls blog (f, m) rating 5. Great and funny series.

Main entry (s1e1) rating 5 at

The Littlest Hobo (1979)

Kind of beds:
separate beds
Available on DVD:
yes *

Rating: *********
2 brothers in the 1982 episode s4e6 (pic 1, I think Sammy Snyders around 15 yo (“Huckleberry Finn and His Friends (1979)“, rating 8) on the left and a younger film brother, maybe Mark Polley on the right.

I haven’t checked all episodes, yet. But I like this wooden room and this is the best, I’ve found yet. I hope to find some more rooms. Bunk beds? Girls? More siblings?

Pic 2 showing boys at a hospital in s1e22. At least 4 or more likely 6 beds. I only remember these 2 boys. Other beds maybe empty?

Officially on DVD only seasons 1-2.

Also (soon) on all my other blogs (except sailor suits), rating mostly 8-9.

Rating 9-10 for now. For more infos, see my other blogs.

Update: Die Kinder vom Alstertal

I found some few more parts on one of my VHS tapes. (Unknown episode).

In a later episode/season (s3 or s4 ?), Timo and Tobias now sharing a wooden bunk bed.

I wonder why? And why has the younger boy (Tobias, pic 2, wearing boxer shorts) the upper bunk? He’s even bullying his older brother. There are some new (young) actors in later seasons, but they have a big house. There are also girls, but I don’t remember their rooms.

Timo is much more handsome and Tobias now wearing braces and shorter hair.

Rating ~7 for this room. Main entry, rating 10 at
