Road to Avonlea

roadtoavonlea-s1e13roadtoavonlea-s1e13b

TV series, 91 episodes in 7 seasons + film
Year: 1990-1996
Year in film: 1900s
Country: Canada
Who in bedroom: Felix 8 + Andrew 12; 2 girls
Kind of beds: same beds, 2 in 1
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6/10 ?
Rating: ******
Comment: 2 boys (Zacharay Bennett as Felix, pic 1 and I think older Joel Blake or less likeley Miklos Perlus) sharing one bed on the right and 2 young girls in the same room sharing the left bed. One is probably Cecily, not sure if the other girl is Felicity or Sara, as I think there’s a 3rd girl later, probably Sara climbing through the window from outside.

Pics from s1e13. On pic 2 one girl is alone in one bed. The setting later changed to Montreal (pic 2 ?). Are these the same wallpapers or do they swith to Avonlea? Sorry, I missed some parts and only checked it briefly.

The 2 boys are hard to notice in the dark, (Felix on the right side behind the older boy, briefly shown). I think all are siblings except main character Sara, who I think is a cousin, visiting her aunt. Not sure where she slept. Maybe in the same room and even 3 in 1 bed?

I don’t know all episode, so needs to be rechecked more carefully, especially the later seasons. Also recently updated on my bib overalls and sailor suit blogs.

For the bedrooms at least rating 6-7. Great series. Currently on Bibel TV.

Family series, 2+ seasons
Year: 2015
Year in film: 2010s

Who in bedroom: Tom, Marnix, girl, 11
Kind of beds: same bed, separate beds
Available on DVD: no ?
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: 2 brothers (identical twins), played by Niek and Freek Verstraaten, almost 12 yo with red curly hair first sharing one bed. Also later with one black girl (Lotje ?) in the middle. Later, they had to separate and sleep in different beds (same room with one separation wall). But the boy in the left bed then visited the other boy. Pics from todays s2e2 (“Unzertrennlich”, “Op avontuur”?).  There’s also a little sister who got their room.

IMdb says it’s a 2015 short film. But it’s a series. Wunschliste says series 2017-. But 2015 for this is obviously correct according arte. No entry on either Dutch nor German Wikipedia. VPRO production. “zappbios”.

I don’t like the boys, but nice plot and room. They ran away.

Coming soon: Road to Avonlea. 2 brothers and 2 sisters each sharing a bed (s1e13, same room), 1900s setting. Also recently updated on my overalls blog.

Matinee (1993)

Comey film by Joe Dante. John Goodman, Omri Katz
Year: 1993

Who in bedroom: Gene ~16, Dennis ~8 ?, others
Kind of beds: separate bed, singles

Rating: 7/10
Rating: *******
Comment: Britain Simon Fenton as Gene (pic 1, sitting on left/upper bed, scene near the beginning) sharing a 1960s room with his younger film brother Dennis (Jesse Lee Soffer). Pic 2 showing Omri Katz phoning with a girl (both in separate rooms).

Very interesting movie set in 1962. I found it after finding Jesse Zeigler in North (1994), see my bib overalls and Western blogs. Nice 60s haircuts, clothes and props. But few and brief scenes.

I like this movie. Although Simon Fenton (and Omri Katz) are looking quite old and the other boy quite young.

Also soon on my Western blog (Dennis), rating ~5-6.

Rating: 5/10 ?
Rating: *****
Comment: Not sure, but obviously Asher Metchik (left bed, pictured on bottom) and older brother (also in real life) Aaron Michael Metchik (also shirtless) sharing this room. Anna Chlumsky (“My Girl”), their film sister probably sleeps in a separate room.

Also on my bib overalls blog, rating 3.

Quite large and colorful room. Wooden beds. Good, but typical 90s movie. But I think rather few good bedroom scenes. And Asher is very young.

So rating ~5-6 for now only. Aka The Mommy Market.

Rating: *****
Comment: Henry Thomas (1 year before film E.T., see also that entry) and younger film brother, played by Carey Hollis Jr.  sharing one bed. Looks like a wide, white metal bed with high side pieces. 1944 US farm setting. There’s also a young visitor (Eric Roberts as sailor Teddy). Not sure, where he slept. Maybe in the same room as well. But he’s not a relative. And I think not sharing the same bed.

Also recently updated on my bib overalls blog (rating 6) and my sailor suit blog, rating 5.

Sorry, I haven’t made better pics of the room. But obviously a typical, nice farm room.

Rating ~5-6. Movie even better.

Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: 2 brothers and one sister sharing this room (Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson and Pixie Davis). Set in the 1930s as this is a sequel to the 1964 classic (which is set in the 1910s, no entry yet). Nice pajamas and short, white union suits.

New in cinemas. Also on my sailor suit blog, rating 5 for now.

I often prefer the classics. But probably a nice, but typical modern family film.

Kids are quite young. At least another brother/sister entry.

Rating ~4 for now.

Happy Christmas to all may readers!

Comment:
2 brothers, played by Frederick Koehler and Talesin Jaffe (as blonde Kenny, right bed) in this, mostly messy room and a bed styled like a car. Also a toddler girl, maybe also sharing this room? There are also other views like side view and bird’s eye (tidy room). Good colors. Blue sheets fit great.

How could I miss this nice 80s movie?

Also soon on my shiny shorts (grown-ups ~ rating 3), Western (boy) and overalls blogs (toddler, boy, man).

There’s also an interesting bathtub scene and maybe more good and funny scenes.

For the bedroom, rating 6-7.

Julián Bravo as Juliancito/Tom Sawyer and his younger film brother sharing this small looking room with wooden beds. Nice Mexican adaption.

I only have checked this briefly. I think few scenes of the room.

Also soon on my pigtails blog.

Rating ~7-8. I like this room. Beds are close to each other.

Comment:
2 brothers sharing one narrow, wooden bed. I’m not sure if the other, tied persons are in the same room.

Only this very brief scene. What else to say? One boy is quite young and not handsome. There are better movies. But ti’s quite rare for brothers sharing a bed in 1992.

So rating ~3-4 only.

13 minutes, no entry on IMDb.

Rating:

Comment:
There are 7 siblings or even 8. The main character is a boy called Laurie, ~ 6 yo at the beginning, soon after WWI, played by Stephen Grendon. Semi-autobiographical novel by Laurie Lee (*1914-1997). He has one younger brother, around 1 year younger and at least 2 older brothers. One sister died in 1915. So I think 3 more sisters (in probably another room). Pictured are obviously 2 different rooms. Pic 1 has I think 2 beds, pic 2 just one. Nice metal beds (brass ?).

Pics are set in the late 1910s or ~1920. There are 2 other actors of Laurie as teen boy and young adult. There are also 2 later movies, which also needs to be checked but probably aren’t better.

Interesting movie and bedrooms. Nice farm setting. But the boy is very young.

Rating ~6.
