Update: Stapelbed (Villa Achterwerk)

I finally found my tape and added this pic to it’s entry.

There were even much more kids in this bunk bed: 13. Many headshots. Kids are quite young ~8-10 yo.

Kids (boys and girls in pajamas and other nightwear) entering this rare bed, one at a time. Then they talk about one subject and their feelings. At the end there’s a pillow fight, also to the lower bunk, and a male voice says, that they should stop or he comes upstairs. Should be the dad?

VPRO production. Just in 1989.

Main entry, rating 5

TV war/drama movie. 2 parts. Novel: Siegfried Lenz
Year in film:
Who in bedroom:
boys ~19, 8 ?
Kind of beds:
single bed
Available on DVD:
I own:
One older teen boy and one younger boy sitting on the same bed in part 2. Not sure about their names. I think Andreas Polizia as 10 Siggi on the right? (or is it the 19 yo Siggi on the left?). I haven’t noticed a dormitory although it’s part of the plot.

I expected much more. I think, I’ve read, that the novel is much more of interest but maybe it’s a different one?

Also on my pigtails blog, rating 5 (girls and young lady).

Update: Les allumettes suédoises

I have rechecked the complete series (rating 8).

Next to the great scene of Olivier and his Jewish friend David sharing one bed, there are also dorm scenes in ep 1 and ep 3 (ep 3 pictured). At least 12, probably some more beds in the dorm. Episode 1 has only or mainly dark scenes.

Also now on my bib overalls blog (rating 2, in fact an old man only but Olivier and a woman in blue aprons). Also soon on my pigtails blog.

German Wikipedia says 12 yo Olivier in 1932, French Wikipedia says 10 yo in 1930. Maybe in the novel only? Actor is 14 and/or 15.

Great series, main entry

Private Peaceful

Who in bedroom: Tommo ~9, Charlie ~14
Kind of beds: separate beds, 2 in 1

Rating: 5/10 *
Rating: *****
Comment: The main plot is about 2 brothers, young Tommo 9 or 10 yo and young Charlie, played by Samuel Bottomley and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, but there’s at least one more, very young boy (maybe Frasier Huckle as Jimmy), maybe he’s also sharing this room. At least the grown-up Tommo and Charlie later sharing one bed.

Interesting movie and a very interesting scene of both boys in underwear in a lake (rating 8).

For the bedrooms, rating 4-5 only.

Die rote Zora und ihre Bande

Rating: *********
Comment: 2 orphaned boys sharing one bed. I think it’s 12 yo Branko (Nedelijko Vukasovic) in the bed on the right. 1930s setting. Is this in the castle? Looks more like cave. Pic from ep. 11. I haven’t noticed other bedrooms.

Very interesting series, but mainly for Branco (also shirtless in black shorts, shiny shorts blog rating 6). And also on my sailor suit blog (historical clothes, rating 5).

I only have checked this series at high speed.

Rating 9 for now. The 2008 remake is very poor (but needs rechecking for bedrooms). I only remember the prison scene at the beginning.

For more infos and pics see my other blogs.

Year: 1993
Year in film: 1920s
Country: Sweden, Denmark
Who in bedroom: Roland ~14, Bertil 15
Kind of beds: same bed
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 8/10
Rating: ********
Comment: Jesper Salén (main character Roland, on the right) and his older brother sharing one bed in 1920s Stockholm.

Very interesting coming-of-age movie. I could I miss this? I have still most parts on a VHS. Maybe because I mainly remembered other scenes? Many good and even funny scenes. And the 3rd movie with a tongue at frozen steel.

Of course lots of historical clothes, but I only notice a woman in a sailor dress. Boxing scenes but I think not shiny shorts.

Handsome actors. Very good movie. English titles: The Slingshot, Innocent Life.

So rating 8-9.

The Mystery of Black Rose Castle

Who in bedroom:

Kind of beds:
same bed

no, partly TV recordings
Rating: *******
Two boys, I think James Schanzer and US American Travis Kisgen (on the right) sharing one bed. Friends, not brothers and it’s not their regular bedroom but on a Castle of one of boy’s granddad.

I don’t remember the complete series, but the blonde boy is very handsome.

Rating 7 for now. But needs rechecking.

Probably worth buying on DVD, but maybe it will be rebroadcasted ?

Update: Our Gang

Like on all my other blogs, I make an update of this great Classic series aka Little Rascals. Please note, that I don’ know/don’t remember all movies. All or most movies were also colorized. There are some few siblings and twin characters (boys), but probably not shown here as most gang members are friends. Nice night shirts.

Pic 1 is from the 1938 movie “Canned Fishing”. Spanky is in Alfalfa’s bed but he sleeps in a different bed (in the same room) earlier. Wooden beds.

Pics 2+3 are from the 1934 movie “Shrimps For a Day”. There is a larger room in an orphanage with several beds, maybe around 8? But also 3 boys sharing one bed. Metal beds.

I previously just had “When the Wind Blows” rating 3.

I don’t like the orphanage and prefer the beds at home. I have to check more episodes. Maybe there are bunk beds as well? Or probably a foldaway bed?

Rating 6 for these scenes.

Looking for Miracles

Sullivan film with kids at a camp

Kind of beds:
same bed. Bunk beds
Available on DVD:

Zachary Bennett (Sullivan) and film brother Greg Spottiswood sharing one bed. Also at least one other location at camp with at least one, probably 2 or more bunk beds in at least one cabin. Also a tent scene (see my overalls blog).

How could I miss this? I even own the DVD for years. But I rarely watch it.

Very interesting 1930s movie also showing Zachary Bennett in underwear (short buttoned union suit), there are more, even better scenes also walking front+rear. But this blog is just about bedrooms.

I’m currently very busy and will recheck the movie more carefully, later.

For now rating even 7 for bedroom scenes. Rating 5 on my overalls blog, rating 3 on my sailor suit blog).

Update: I’ve noticed one bunk bed and 2 separate beds in the counselor’s cabin. Adding tag 4 or more in one room.

Babička (1986)

TV short comedy film
Year: 1986
Year in film: 1980s
Country: CZ
Who in bedroom: boys ~9, 7
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes ?
I own: no
Rating: 5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: There are two brothers in this room. 2 beds angled at 90 degrees (heads next each other). Not sure if the younger kid in the left bed is a boy but probably. On the left ist the mother. Brief scene at 15 minutes.

Also at the beginning both together in one bed or the middle of both with mom but only sitting and listening.

In total 30 minutes. Also an old woman in overalls. No entry on IMDb. Directed by Jan Urbášek.

I prefer US movies and bunk beds. But still interesting. I like angled beds.

Rating 5.
