Road to Avonlea

TV series, 91 episodes in 7 seasons + film
Year: 1990-1996
Year in film: 1900s
Country: Canada
Who in bedroom: Felix 8 + Andrew 12; 2 girls
Kind of beds: same beds, 2 in 1
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 6/10 ?
Rating: ******
Comment: 2 boys (Zacharay Bennett as Felix, pic 1 and I think older Joel Blake or less likeley Miklos Perlus) sharing one bed on the right and 2 young girls in the same room sharing the left bed. One is probably Cecily, not sure if the other girl is Felicity or Sara, as I think there’s a 3rd girl later, probably Sara climbing through the window from outside.

Pics from s1e13. On pic 2 one girl is alone in one bed. The setting later changed to Montreal (pic 2 ?). Are these the same wallpapers or do they swith to Avonlea? Sorry, I missed some parts and only checked it briefly.

The 2 boys are hard to notice in the dark, (Felix on the right side behind the older boy, briefly shown). I think all are siblings except main character Sara, who I think is a cousin, visiting her aunt. Not sure where she slept. Maybe in the same room and even 3 in 1 bed?

I don’t know all episode, so needs to be rechecked more carefully, especially the later seasons. Also recently updated on my bib overalls and sailor suit blogs.

For the bedrooms at least rating 6-7. Great series. Currently on Bibel TV.

Family series, 2+ seasons
Year: 2015
Year in film: 2010s
Country: The Netherlands, Germany
Who in bedroom: Tom, Marnix, girl, 11
Kind of beds: same bed, separate beds
Available on DVD: no ?
I own: yes, partly TV recording
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: 2 brothers (identical twins), played by Niek and Freek Verstraaten, almost 12 yo with red curly hair first sharing one bed. Also later with one black girl (Lotje ?) in the middle. Later, they had to separate and sleep in different beds (same room with one separation wall). But the boy in the left bed then visited the other boy. Pics from todays s2e2 (“Unzertrennlich”, “Op avontuur”?).  There’s also a little sister who got their room.

IMdb says it’s a 2015 short film. But it’s a series. Wunschliste says series 2017-. But 2015 for this is obviously correct according arte. No entry on either Dutch nor German Wikipedia. VPRO production. “zappbios”.

I don’t like the boys, but nice plot and room. They ran away.

Coming soon: Road to Avonlea. 2 brothers and 2 sisters each sharing a bed (s1e13, same room), 1900s setting. Also recently updated on my overalls blog.

Le petit bougnat

Drama, family film
Year: 1970
Year in film: ~1969 ?
Country: France, Italy
Who in bedroom: boys ~10-12 ?
Kind of beds: dorm, separate beds
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no, partly TV recording
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Some boys in a dorm with separation walls. The black boy (Claude Amazan as main character) sleeping on the floor (also later in a wooden bed). I don’t remember if it’s at a different location. Pic 1 looks like an (unusual) dorm, maybe a modern orphanage. But the plot is about a summer camp. Probably no bunk beds.

Sorry, I’ve checked this some time ago. I don’t like the late 60s and early 70s. Typical movie. Also on my pigtails blog.

Rating 3-4 for the bedrooms.

Swamp Thing (1990)

Sci-Fi series, 72 ep
Year: 1990-1993
Year in film: 1990s ?
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Jim ~9
Kind of beds: single
Available on DVD: yes ?
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Another one starring Jesse Zeigler, I think pictured shirtless in pajamas. Not sure if it’s his bedroom. Doesn’t look like childish. Pic from s1e9. There’s also a scene with the lady (mom?) in (this or similar) wooden bed (same episode). Rounded head part. Maybe they even share this bed? Also Jim in a hospital bed in s1e8.

Handsome boy actor. Obviously very few bedroom scenes.

For the bedroom rating ~4-5 only.

Matinee (1993)

Comey film by Joe Dante. John Goodman, Omri Katz
Year: 1993
Year in film: 1962
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Gene ~16, Dennis ~8 ?, others
Kind of beds: separate bed, singles
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 7/10
Rating: *******
Comment: Britain Simon Fenton as Gene (pic 1, sitting on left/upper bed, scene near the beginning) sharing a 1960s room with his younger film brother Dennis (Jesse Lee Soffer). Pic 2 showing Omri Katz phoning with a girl (both in separate rooms).

Very interesting movie set in 1962. I found it after finding Jesse Zeigler in North (1994), see my bib overalls and Western blogs. Nice 60s haircuts, clothes and props. But few and brief scenes.

I like this movie. Although Simon Fenton (and Omri Katz) are looking quite old and the other boy quite young.

Also soon on my Western blog (Dennis), rating ~5-6.

Lloyd (2001)

Lloyd: The Ugly Kid. Starring Todd Bosley. Kids’ film
Year: 2001
Year in film: 1990s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Lloyd ~12 ?
Kind of beds: single bed ?
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, TV recording
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Todd Bosley in this bed and bedroom. He has a younger film brother (played by Sammy Elliott, around 8 yo, also shirtless), but I think he has a room for his own and sometimes wake him up. Also starring Brendon Ryan Barrett (a friend and classmate only ?). He is also shown there.

Great family film. Also on my bib overalls and Western blog rating up to 7.

For the room, rating ~4-5 only. Needs to be rechecked more carefully for other rooms or beds. Filmed in 1997 (or 1996).

Trading Mom

Family movie starry Anna Chlumsky and Sissy Spacek
Year: 1994
Year in film: 1990s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Harry ~7, Jeremy ~13 ?
Kind of beds: separate beds
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Rating: 5/10 ?
Rating: *****
Comment: Not sure, but obviously Asher Metchik (left bed, pictured on bottom) and older brother (also in real life) Aaron Michael Metchik (also shirtless) sharing this room. Anna Chlumsky (“My Girl”), their film sister probably sleeps in a separate room.

Also on my bib overalls blog, rating 3.

Quite large and colorful room. Wooden beds. Good, but typical 90s movie. But I think rather few good bedroom scenes. And Asher is very young.

So rating ~5-6 for now only. Aka The Mommy Market.

Gentle Giant (1967)

Gentle Ben pilot. Clint Howard
Year: 1967
Year in film: 1960s
Country: USA
Who in bedroom: Mark ~7
Kind of beds: single ?
Available on DVD: no ?
I own: no
Rating: 4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Clint Howard, I think sleeping alone in this 1960s farm bedroom.

Not bad, but nothing special. I’m still searching for the Gentle Ben episodes showing Ron Howard in bib overalls. Brothers in real life, but I think a relative or friend in the series and Ron only appeared in 2 episodes. Not sure if the same room is shown in the series as well.

For the bedroom rating ~4 for now only. I only have checked this briefly. Probably few good scenes of the room. He’s very young and I don’t like him.

Vägen till Gyllenblå!

Sci-Fi TV series, 5 ep
Year: 1985-1986
Year in film: Future
Country: Sweden
Who in bedroom: boys, girls ~10-12 ?
Kind of beds: separate beds / dorm
Available on DVD: no ?
I own: no
Rating: 7/10 ?
Rating: *******
Comment: Some boys and I think girls in one dorm with rows of beds close to each other with little curtains over the heads. Located on a different planet.

Very interesting Sci-Fi series. Also including skinny dipping scenes. Handsome blonde boy.

I don’t know the complete series. Interesting dorm, strange beds, clothes and plot.

Rating ~7-8 for now. I think not on DVD. Script by Norwegian Roar Skolmen. Aka “Veien til Gyldenblå” which is also the title of his 1985 novel which would be interesting as well. But I think quite rare as well and maybe not translated. He also did some other interesting movies. One soon on my shiny shorts blog.
